Organization Development is a planned change discipline concerned with applying behavioral science knowledge and practice to help organizations achieve greater effectiveness. In this course, you will conduct an analysis of your organization with the goal of creating a plan to improve an aspect of your organization’s performance. Each unit will build on the previous complete to achieve the goal.
For your Unit 6 Complete assignment, identify your competitor and external environment. Write a narrative essay (minimum 1500 words) in which you address and discuss the questions and statements listed below. Use at least three scholarly sources and remember to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the READ and Attend sections in your essay. Cite your sources in APA format.
- Recent Industry Trends. Review the latest trends within your industry and the potential for the trends to affect your organization positively or negatively. In addition, consider major trends of other industries and the potential impact the trends may have on your organization.
• Competitors website and social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Review and assess what your competition is doing. Is your competitor’s social presence more effective than yours? What can you learn from what or how they are promoting? What are their clients saying about their electronic presence? What have you learned by researching them?
• Supplier website and social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Look out your suppliers’ websites and social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Are they endorsing your competition or promoting their products or services over yours? Are they promoting alternative solutions to the ones you are currently using from them? Can you partner with them to promote your products? Can you think of ways where connecting with them would enhance your social media presence? What have you learned by researching them?
• Environmental Influences. What trends or impending changes are likely to take place in the future that could potentially impact your organization? Are there legal issues such as taxes or pending legislative considerations that could change how you do business? What social issues are changing? and, how could such changes negatively impact your business? Are there potential windfalls to be prepared for if certain social trends continue or become major laws?
• Industry Journal or Publication website. What publications or research firms can you benefit from their findings? Are you sufficiently active on LinkedIn or other social media presence? How can you improve your profile to enhance your social media presence?
