Case briefs should include the following with subheadings: 1) facts of the case; 2) the main legal issues in dispute; 3) the arguments on both sides of each issue; 4) the Court’s ruling on each issue; 5) the Court’s reasoning behind its decisions; and finally 6) the main legal principles from the case. . Students are expected to base their case briefs on a reading of the actual Supreme Court majority opinion. You will be scored from 0-3 based on the thoroughness of your brief.
The Reasoning section should be the longest section of the brief ! – at least one page
