Write about “A Subtlety (also known as the Marvelous Sugar Baby”, the whole work based on Technical work analysis in other meaning, you should talk mostly about the art not the artist.
For your paper, you will write about an artistof the Marvelous Sugar Baby by Kara Walker. You will go through the process: research the history of the place, the art history, the current art institutions. In 5 pages, please focus on artwork that you put into the context of that artist’s overall artistic practice, the relevant history or art history that locates that project in one place, and the relationship (or not) to global contemporary art. This is a lot to cover – be concise, and keep it relevant to the argument that you are making (ie you do not need to write the history and art history of the country, but you do need to write how this artwork relates or not to the history and art history of its artist’s place of birth or the place in which it was created or exhibited). Your focus is the single artwork, and your thesis should reflect this (no theses about countries or artistic movements – keep it specific to an artwork).
You are required to find a minimum of 3 outside sources that are cited using Chicago style citations – you will probably need more. Wikipedia is not a source that you can use or cite. Look instead to online art journals, artists’ websites, galleries, etc. You must also cite one of the many articles that we have read this semester (not the primary textbook) – our goal is to ground this project in the shared conversation of this class. Please submit a proposal with the name of the artist, the name of the artwork, and 2 sources.
