We’ve done a summary and response before (Tom Hanks article). Now’s your chance to show how you’ve learned to read an article and gather the main point/thesis, key detail and impactful quotes and write a summary about it, and then include a section that incorporates how you feel about the topic at hand–you are welcome to use your voice and oppose it or agree with it. That’s why I wanted you to read the chapter on argumentative writing–you’ll do that more in COMP II.
You will incorporate at least one line or two and direct quote it into your writing assignment, as well as do some paraphrasing. We practiced this in class on Dec. 4. See the models how to quote and how to paraphrase in Course Resources. MUST follow the MLA model.
I attached one of the student loan articles my teacher recommended. You need to use this article to write the argumentative essay.
