Your research project is an ethnographic report on some aspect of nutritional anthropology

Your research project is an ethnographic report on some aspect of nutritional anthropology. Ethnography is a
narrative of an anthropologist’s research and our two primary methods are observation and interview. You are asked
to use an ethnographic component—either an interview OR an observation1–to engage in a SMALL study relating to
nutritional anthropology. Small is the appropriate word— use the ethnographic component to exemplify something
about the subject you have chosen. Because we are experimenting with including this project in such a short class,
you are asked to be co-investigators, i.e., do your best to produce a good project in this short amount of time and then
offer us feedback about whether and how this research project should be included in future summer versions of this
course.
Potential research subjects are listed at the end of these guidelines. If you want to do something that isn’t on the list,
feel free to check it with Dr. O’Bryan.
