Home health nursing can implement primary prevention, that is, prevention of disease or injury before its onset, by assessing the patient’s home environment and living conditions to ensure safety, e.g. ensuring the patient has an escape plan in case of fire, smoke detectors, and enough ventilation to prevent respiratorily, and clear walking paths to prevent falls (Nies & McEwen, 2019). Nurses also assess the patient’s meals to ensure they are nutrition-rich to prevent diet-related diseases such as obesity
