A major part of the development of the American West in the early-twentieth century

A major part of the development of the American West in the early-twentieth century included urban growth and continuing social and economic integration with a global system of travel and trade. This brought great wealth and opportunities, but in the years at the end of the First World War, it also brought the largest pandemic of the 20th century into every western community.

Read at least two of the linked articles below on the flu and responses to it in Seattle, Oregon, and Idaho, then use the database link below to find a news article from a city in the West (outside of Idaho) during the epidemic (1918-1920).

Using at least two of these sources plus your news article from the time, write a summary of how westerners responded to the flu pandemic and analyze how those responses reflect some of the larger changes going on in the West in the early decades of the twentieth century. What parallels do you see with our current pandemic crisis?

Submit your response to those questions as your original post by March 12. Then post a reply to one of your classmates by March 14
