Professor to Class: Boundary Work for Family TX?
Family therapy can be "very messy" with families turning on one another and/or the therapist. What are some examples for laying the proper groundwork and setting the foundation and boundaries?

My response:
Good morning Professor,

Professor: In our work this week and last week, we are exploring patterns. The Stages of Change Model does have a
progressive step-by-step pattern but there is a caution to remember that the stages are not really linear. This is a
very important point. Often clients are discouraged when they feel that their recovery has gone "backwards" or
they even believe that they have failed if they move back to another stage. How can we help them to avoid this
type of discouragement?

Can you think of an example where your own progress was not always linear?

My response:

Professor Class: Stages for Family Recovery?
Do you think these stages apply to the family members as well? We discussed co-dependency and the enabling
factors in previous weeks. Do you think that it could be a setback for the family members to be working so hard to
prevent a relapse in the addict? Why or why not?
