This assignment is intended to assist students to meet the Unit learning outcomes a-c:

identify appropriate communication and engagement practices, community resources, and Indigenous models for practice

use their understandings of past and contemporary social policy relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander world views and Indigenous models for practice to design culturally responsive practice in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

articulate a human rights and social justice based framework in their work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

As such you are asked to construct a family cultural map for Naomi James (see following description). 

This map should reflect the people, their places and connections, indicating the strength or otherwise of these connections.

Additionally you are asked to:

Comment on the identified connections

Identify the issues present in Naomi’s story which you consider might affect the family or family members

Based on your considerations of items 1-2, where do you think you would like to start the work, with whom and why?  Pay particular attention here to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols.
