Business professionals who write and present well are generally seen as more credible. In addition, properly citing source material that supports your topic or shows analysis adds to your credibility.

Think of an e-mail or document that you received filled with spelling mistakes, typos, grammatical errors, or poor use of source material. How did the problems impact your perception of the person who wrote the document, or their work? Most often such a person is viewed as someone who cannot be taken seriously or who is sloppy about their work. Professionals who write and speak in a clear, concise, and focused manner, and who can support their assertions, are perceived to be more competent. If the writing mechanics of spelling, typing, and grammar are correct, the writers’ ideas are seen in a more serious light.

In this discussion, share with your peers some tricks or tips you use to appear professional and polished in your writing and presenting. What are resources you have found helpful in honing those writing and presenting skills? How can you continue to grow in this area, making yourself even more credible via effective communication?
