American court dockets

American court dockets

American court dockets are crowded and expensive, yet the need for access to court process is great and the ability to get a fair court hearing is a treasured right of all Americans.

Taking into account all that you have learned in this course, explain your vision of the future of judicial administration. What techniques, technologies, or approaches will judicial systems adopt over the next twenty years to ensure that courts run smoothly, yet remain accessible to the public to serve the ends of both civil and criminal justice?

In response to your peers, ask questions about their initial posts, noting whether you think their visions are effective and efficient proposals, or suggesting (polite) constructive criticism that might improve their proposals.

To complete this assignment, review the Discussion Rubric document.

We have read, and discussed a multitude of information about the justice

system throughout this course. A focus on judiciary efficiency has been

the common theme among most of the work that we have looked at. As with

every government department, the judiciary system must grow and adapt

to society and it’s needs. I believe that the judiciary system will

continue to evolve with the aid of technology. Using online resources

and electronic filing has shown to be one of the most efficient tools

when it comes to processing cases and being able to stick with a

specific timeline. Within the next 20 years, the judicial system will

rely more heavily on the technology at their disposal. As technology

continues to grow, judicial administration will grow and adapt along

with it. This will allow for a more efficient judicial system.

In the process of completing this course, I have learned a significant amount of information pertaining to the American judicial system. Specifically, I’ve learned how overwhelming, crowded, and extremely time-consuming for its judicial employees. Whether it is a lawyer that provides a significant amount of information to the court by gathering evidence to lay out in front of the judge in hopes of exonerating their client (Learn.org, 2019) or a court clerk/manager that maintains court records, administer oaths to witnesses and jurors, and verifying copies of court orders and judgment court’s seal (Criminal Justice Degree Schools, 2019) both individuals exceed to their highest expectations in order to provide a fair court hearing for all.

After reviewing some of the articles posted in the modules, I have learned that currently, strategic planning and case-flow management demonstrates a means of ensuring judicial efficiency. However, there is still room for improvement. Within the next twenty years, I predict that judicial administration will improve with techniques and technologies in order to run smoothly, yet remind accessible to the public to serve the ends of both civil and criminal justice.

Based off of the module PDF, A Case Study: Reengineering Utah’s Courts Through The Lens of the Principles for Judicial Administration by the National Center for State Courts, there have been statistics that show that Utah’s court system is showing a greater judicial efficiency. To support my position of judicial administration improving, when other court systems adopt policies such as moving to an electoronic recording, making the record electronically and managing transcript production, and reinventing clerical operations and functions, judicial administration will be on the rise. Thus far, judicial administration has adapted to the amount of civil and criminal cases and a variety of crimes; overcame the struggle. Therefore, I have no doubt in my mind that the judicial administration in the next twenty years will achieve efficiency.
