Communication plan

Communication plan

Develop a communication plan to support a family in your program or the mock family described below. Your communication plan will need to include two or more of the following communication methods: Planned Conferences, Unplanned Conferences, Phone Calls, Journaling, Email, Social Media, and/or Home Visits

Mock Family: Sam is a toddler at a local child care center. He lives with his family in a suburb of a large city. Sam is an only child that lives with Cindy, his mother and Bob, his father. His father is a Family Practice Physician who owns his own practice. He works long hours and can get called away to deliver a baby unexpectedly. Cindy, Sam’s mother is a morning radio talk show host. She typically gets up at 3:30 am each morning to get to work and can be finished as soon as 10:00 am some days. However, Cindy’s schedule can vary depending on prerecording work or appearances she may need to do. Bob drops Sam off in the mornings and Cindy picks Sam up each day. Sam is usually the first child to arrive in the morning. Sam’s mother picks Sam up as early as 10:30 am and as late as 5:30 pm depending on the day. Sam also spends a lot of time with his Grandma, Cheryl who lives close by the family. The family has quite a commute from their home in the suburbs to their work and Sam’s child care in the city.
Submit to the drop box a 2 page plan that includes:

Page 1: a note to the parents explaining your communication plan

Page 2: a list of at least 2 perceived benefits of your plan, a list of at least 2 conditions that need to be met in order for the plan to be effective, and at least 1 paragraph on how the plan is individualized to meet that particular families’ needs and an explanation of how the communication plan will support relationship building.

NOTE: if you are choosing to use a family in your program as your audience instead of the mock family, you must also include a brief synopsis of the family for whom you are creating the communication plan (be sure to use initials or alternate names to respect the family’s privacy).
