Find a suitable inspection checklist or form. Below, we have provided links to four forms that may be applicable; one is fairly general in its focus. A simple Google search for “workplace inspection checklist” or variant will return a variety of forms from which you can choose. Note: for the first three, you have the option to select a “printer friendly” version by selecting that button in the upper right corner of the website screen.

Select a worksite to visit. Preferably, choose your own worksite to inspect as you will be familiar with the tasks and processes. If you choose another workplace (one that is not familiar), ask for a brief overview of the hazards so you can ensure your own safety and conduct the assessment. Be sure to wear required personal protective equipment.
Conduct your inspection.
Discussion. Once you have completed your inspection, complete the two items below and post your responses to the Inspecition Forum.
Identify two or three challenges you had with the inspection process and how you overcame them.
Describe (if noted) any unsafe acts you witnessed.
Once you have completed your posts, review your classmates’ posts. Comment on at least two, confirming that you saw similar unsafe acts or providing suggestions as to how they could have overcome one of the challenges they experienced.
