For this assignment you are to create a valid case both in favor of/opposition to a proposition. You are to use one of the propositions from the approved list of topics (see Topics For Argumentation Paper in Canvas). This assignment is in two parts. In one paper you are to affirm the proposition using convincing, logically sound arguments. In the second paper you are to negate the same proposition using convincing, logically sound arguments. The proposition you select is the same proposition you should use for your annotated bibliography.

Overall things your paper should contain:

A clear position taken on the proposition (either affirm or negate). Your paper should contain some version of the sentence “In this paper I affirm/negate the proposition ____________” in an introduction.

A clear identification of the arguments used.

Arguments should work to support the overall main point of the paper (to either affirm or negate the proposition).

Appropriate use of outside source material. Arguments that do not contain direct references to supporting material will not be considered strong arguments.
