Step 4) After you’re done listening, reading, and learning, write up your reflection on the content of the song by answering the following questions:

Question 1. What is the group trying to convey in their lyrics (this is open to your interpretation) (1 paragraph) (10 pts)?

Question 2. What do you think it means when René (singer) says, “El que no quiere a su patria no quiere a su madre. Soy américa latina. Un pueblo sin piernas pero que camina” (2-3 sentences of your opinion/reaction) (10 pts)?

Question 3. What do you know about the history between the USA and Latin America (1-2 sentences)? Based on the lyrics and tone of the song, what do you think the group is trying to convey in their lyrics in regards to the relationship between Latin America and the rest of the world (2-3 sentences)? Use direct quotes from the lyrics in Spanish or English to back up your opinion(s) (30 pts).

Question 4. Find one scholarly article about the relationship between the USA and Latin America over time. You can use “google scholar” or any other database you have at your disposal. Find (2) relevant quotes or citations and include them here, along with your reactions to them (1 paragraph) (40 pts).

Question 5. Your personal impressions and reflections after watching the music video, reading the lyrics, reading up on the song, and finding your own article (1 paragraph) (10 pts).

Your assignment should be no more than 2 pages single-spaced, and should include a works cited page with your article from question 4. Submit your assignment using the “Add attachment” button.
